The Florida Healthy Start program begins with your first OB visit, when you will be asked to complete a confidential Healthy Start screening form to determine if there are any risk factors that may increase the chances of your baby being born too early or too small. It also identifies conditions that could cause problems for you or your baby.

The Healthy Start screen should be offered to you on your initial prenatal visit with your OB/GYN physician and at the hospital where you deliver your baby. Saying "Yes" to the Healthy Start screen will help in gathering information that can make health care better for you and all of Florida's moms and babies.

Healthy Start services will be offered to you based on the results of your screen. Whether or not you receive our services is your choice. If you say "Yes", a Healthy Start Care Coordinator from our program will get in touch with you. The Care Coordinator will explain the results of your screen and answer any questions that you may have.
